Protect Equipment from Ground Loops and Electrical Surges
Connecting devices powered by separate AC sources can create ground loops and electrical surges that damage equipment, disrupt communications, and lead to costly downtime. The Black Box® High-Speed Opto-Isolator eliminates this risk by electrically isolating connected devices while maintaining reliable serial data communications.
Inside the isolator, data signals are converted into light pulses and transmitted across an internal fiber optic link. This optical connection allows data to pass freely while blocking the electrical pathway that can carry harmful ground-loop currents, helping protect computers, controllers, and other connected equipment.
Designed for high-performance serial applications, the High-Speed Opto-Isolator supports data rates up to 115.2 kbps and protects devices with serial ports located up to 1000 feet (304.8 m) from either side of the interface. For installations where the interface does not provide sufficient power, an optional 120-VAC Wallmount Power Supply (PS1002) is available.
