STP cables have pairs of twisted copper wires, similar to UTP, but each pair is enclosed in a conductive shield, usually made of foil or braided wire. This is a shielding provides a barrier against external EMI and reduces crosstalk. The entire bundle of pairs is also wrapped in an additional shield, enhancing protection.
